History of the Center

A Water Resources Research Institute was established at Oklahoma State University of Agriculture and Applied Science, an Institution of Higher Education, which was established in accordance with the Act of July 2, 1862 (12 Stat. 503). Because two institutions within the State of Oklahoma were established in accordance with the Act of July 2, 1862, the Governor of the State in a letter dated September 10, 1964, to Dr. John Calhoun, Director, Office of Water Resources Research, designated Oklahoma State University of Agriculture and Applied Science as the organization to establish the Institute and to receive Federal funds under Title I, Sections lOO(a) and lOl(a), PL 88-379.
