Competitive Funding Programs through the Water Center

The Oklahoma Water Resources Center administers two water research grant programs in cooperation with the USGS. Each year, the Center invites proposals from water researchers. Oklahoma Water Research Grants Program

The Oklahoma Water Research Grant Program is a competitive grant program available to current faculty, staff, and students of any Oklahoma university conducting research addressing priority Oklahoma water issues. The Oklahoma Water Resources is currently accepting pre-proposals for this grant program. To find out details about more details, see the full Request for Pre-Proposals.


If you are interested in applying, please submit your pre-proposal using the 104(b) Online Application Form by 5:00 p.m. on June 12, 2020.


National Water Research Grants Program (USGS 104(g) grants of $250,000)

This program offers support for one- to three-year water research projects on topics of national importance. The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the National Institutes for Water Resources, requests proposals each year for research on topics of national importance for funding through its National Competitive Grants Program. Any investigator at an institution of higher learning in Oklahoma is eligible to apply for this National Competitive Grant through the Oklahoma Water Resources Center.
