OSU Water Facilities & Labs

In addition to the facilities and services listed below, our faculty collaborate to share equipment and knowledge, while optimizing resources. See what resources and capabilities we have on our Water Quality Labs page.

Agricultural Experiment Stations

Our mission is to conduct fundamental and applied research for the purpose of developing new knowledge that will lead to technology improvements addressing the needs of the people of Oklahoma. Visit www.oaes.okstate.edu.

Ecohydrology Lab

Research at this Natural Resource Ecology and Management department laboratory focuses primarily on improving our understanding of the effects of land use, land cover change, and climatic variability on ecological and hydrological processes at different spatial and temporal scales. Visit nrem.okstate.edu/Ecohydrology.

Hydraulic Engineering Research Unit

The mission of the Hydraulic Engineering Research Unit is to 1) develop criteria for design and analysis of safe, economical structures and channels for the conveyance, storage, disposal, and measurement of runoff water; 2) develop basic knowledge of the hydraulics of surface water flows for use in planning measures needed for environmentally appropriate control of runoff water and/or assessing the safety and efficiency of existing measures; and 3) determine the ability of vegetation, riprap, and/or various manufactured materials to protect hydraulic structures and channels from erosion. Visit www.ars.usda.gov.

Oklahoma Mesonet

The Oklahoma Mesonet consists of over 110 automated environmental monitoring stations covering Oklahoma. These stations record environmental measurements every 5 minutes, 24 hours per day year-round. These measurements are then transmitted to a central facility and made available to the public. Visit www.mesonet.org.

Shoup Fisheries Management and Ecology Laboratory

Dr. Shoup's lab provides instruction and conducts research in the areas of freshwater fisheries management and fish ecology. Visit nrem.okstate.edu/shouplab.

Soil, Water and Forage Analytical Laboratory

SWFAL provides valuable information that helps citizens protect and utilize their soil, water, animal manure, and forage resources efficiently and effectively. Visit www.soiltesting.okstate.edu.
