It is with a heavy heart that we share that Malinda Berry Fischer, longtime supporter of Oklahoma Water Resources Center, has passed away.

Oklahoma State University, in collaboration with the Groundwater Foundation, has launched a national campaign to bring awareness to groundwater access, education and industry training. At the center of the campaign — led by the College of Arts and Sciences and NGWA University Powered by OSU — is a televised public service announcement and resource-filled website that illustrate both the vitality of clean water and how populations often take it for granted.

The average depth of a water well in Oklahoma is 175 feet deep, according to Oklahoma State University Extension. However, not all wells are equal. OSU Extension in conjunction with the Oklahoma Water Resources Center provides free well water screenings to counties across Oklahoma. Kevin Wagner, director of OWRC, began this project in 2018.

Oklahoma State University researchers have partnered with other state and federal entities to improve the management of water resources across the state. “We’re trying to create a world-class water monitoring network for our state to complement what we already have, which is a world-class meteorological network with the Oklahoma Mesonet,” said Tyson Ochsner, professor of plant and soil sciences in the Ferguson College of Agriculture.
