60 Years of Oklahoma Water Resources Center
Wednesday, July 2, 2025
This month, the Oklahoma Water Resources Center (OWRC) celebrates its 60th year anniversary!
In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Water Resources Research Act, leading to the Oklahoma Water Resources Research Institute being established on July 1, 1965. Today, the OWRC provides science-based, community-supported solutions for the state’s most pressing water quantity and quality challenges. We strive to help Oklahoma achieve high levels of water quality and sustainable use of our region’s water through integrated research, education, training and technology assistance.
Help us celebrate the last 60 years by learning some more about past directors, pivotal projects and accomplishments of the past, and looking forward to the future of OWRC.
