5th International Seminar on Dam Protections Against Overtopping

April 2025
Protections 2025 brings together leading experts in research, development and practice to discuss and address overtopping of dams and levees and how to mitigate against potential damages.  Previous seminars have been held in Madrid, Spain (2014); Fort Collins, Colorado, USA (2016); Grange-over-Sands, United Kingdom (2018) and Madrid, Spain (2022).  Participants from over 20 countries have helped make this seminar a special learning experience.
The recently formed European Working Group on Overflowing and Overtopping Erosion (EWGOOE) which is hosted by the European Club of ICOLD adopted the 2022 Protections seminar as its first meeting place. View Protections 2025 details below.

Protections 2025 will include a special tour of the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Research Service’s, Agroclimate and Hydraulic Engineering Research Unit (AHERU) facility located near Stillwater, Oklahoma.  During the tour AHERU staff will conduct a live breach test of a constructed embankment dam. Attendees will be able to witness the embankment breach test and photograph and video the event.

The tradition of providing an open discussion environment will continue with the 5th International Seminar on Dam Protections against Overtopping and attendees are invited to prepare abstracts and papers that will be published in an online proceedings in one of the following areas:
